DAMASCUS -- The Syrian government on Saturday expressed support for the China-proposed Global Initiative on Data Security that aims to tackle issues emerging in the field of data security.

LOS ANGELES -- Video-sharing social networking platform TikTok on Saturday voiced hope that an agreement reached by its Chinese parent company ByteDance with Oracle and Walmart will "resolve the security concerns of the U.S. administration and settle questions around TikTok's future in the U.S."

Hong Kong -- An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 jolted 6 km NNE of Falam, Myanmar at 01:59:05 GMT on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

ACCRA -- At least six teenage footballers were killed and 30 others injured in a road accident in Ghana's southern Ashanti region on Saturday, local police said.

Edmund Nyamekye, commander of the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department, told the media that four of the injured had been rushed to hospital and were in critical condition. (Ghana-Road Accident)
