BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- The journal Brain Hemorrhages, initiated by a team of Chinese researchers, has seen a steady increase in international influence in recent years, according to the just concluded "2024 Brain Health Conference" held in Beijing.

The journal was included by ESCI, a database for emerging and high-potential journals, at the end of 2023 and recently received its first impact factor of 1.3, marking a new step in its international academic influence, said Zhang He, editor-in-chief of the journal, who highlighted the progress at the conference.

It was established by a research team from Tongji Hospital in collaboration with the International Hemorrhagic Stroke Association. The journal publishes high-quality original research articles, authoritative reviews, and academic briefings in English. The proportion of international submissions is as high as 70 percent.

Brain hemorrhage is a highly fatal and disabling neurological disease with a higher incidence rate in China compared to Western countries. For a long time, both basic and clinical research on brain hemorrhage has not received adequate attention, resulting in a mismatch with its clinical treatment.

The journal aims to provide a professional academic platform for brain hemorrhage researchers and clinicians worldwide, foster global exchange and collaboration, and drive clinical technological innovation through advancements in academic research, said Tang Zhouping, executive chief editor of the journal.
