Chinese Academy of Social Sciences launches database on Xi thought

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) has launched an English-version database recently on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era.

Integrating authoritative online resources and multilingual literature resources mainly in English, the database demonstrates the original texts or reports of relevant news, important speeches, congratulatory letters and messages, books, and signed articles by Xi, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

Relying on the National Center for Philosophy and Social Sciences Documentation established by the CASS since 2016, the database has spread to more than 90,000 institutional users and 8 million individual users in more than 190 countries and regions around the world, which is conducive to the international dissemination of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Wang Lan, director of the library of the CASS, told CGTN.

Through online collection and resource cooperation, the library has extensively collected multilingual literature resources on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, mainly in English, ensuring that the data sources are authoritative and reliable, Wang said.

Meanwhile, the library has referred to the achievements and experiences of domestic mainstream media in building an international platform for introducing the thought to help its establishment, Wang said.

The collection of relevant news, books, articles, letters and speeches not only witnesses Xi's footprints at home and abroad but also helps deepen people's understanding of the theoretical, historical and practical logic of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Wang said.

Noting that CGTN launches an interactive page at the end of each year highlighting Xi's important thoughts and remarks, Wang said it is in line with the function and significance of the database, expressing hope to enhance mutual exchanges, learning and cooperation with CGTN.

Wang said the CASS will promote exchanges and cooperation with CGTN on the international dissemination of the CPC's innovative theories, aiming to become important channels to promote Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
